Beloved music legend found dead this morning

Shaun Martin, a Grammy-winning musician known for his work with the jazz group Snarky Puppy, has died. The cause of his death is unknown, though he had been recovering from an undisclosed illness, and a benefit concert was planned in his honor. Snarky Puppy shared the news on Instagram, calling him a “music legend” and a “beautiful, luminous human being.”

Shaun, born in Dallas, Texas, on August 23, 1978, was also the music director for gospel singer Kirk Franklin. He won four Grammys for his work with Kirk and three more with Snarky Puppy. His musical journey began at age four with piano lessons, learning both classical and jazz styles, and later playing gospel music at church.

Shaun is survived by his wife, Monica Wilson Martin, and their son, Harlem. Fans and fellow musicians have expressed their sorrow on social media, with many praising his joyful spirit and immense talent.
