Ángel Salazar, the actor best known for his role as Chi Chi in the 1983 cult classic Scarface, has passed away at the age of 68. Salazar, who portrayed Al Pacino’s loyal sidekick in the film, died in his sleep over the weekend at a friend’s home in Brooklyn, according to his agent and close friend, Ann Wingsong.

Salazar had a successful career beyond Scarface, appearing in films like Punchline with Tom Hanks and reuniting with Pacino in Carlito’s Way. He was also known for his stand-up comedy, frequently performing on HBO specials and Last Comic Standing. Salazar’s final roles were in The Black Caesar and The Gilbert Diaries: The Movie in 2022 and 2023.
