In a scandal that has brought shame to the left, a corrupt Democratic judge from Texas faces charges of money laundering after employing unethical methods to finance his own campaign, prompting his party to urge him to resign, labeling him as someone who is “playing the victim.”
For context, KP George, a judge in Fort Bend County, Texas, was arrested on April 4, 2025, and charged with several counts of money laundering. George was reportedly first elected to his position in 2018 and re-elected in 2022, having already been indicted in September 2024 on a misdemeanor charge for misrepresentation of identity.
According to reports from Houston Public Media, George firmly maintained that he had committed no illegal acts, asserting that he had lent personal funds to his judicial campaign and reimbursed himself. In a statement released to the media, George remarked, “This is a standard and lawful practice.”
Furthering his statement, George claimed that the Fort Bend County district attorney was “weaponizing” his authority to conspire against him, stating, “Allegations and accusations are being made without full context or disclosure of the facts — deliberately manipulating the narrative to damage my reputation and character.”
In reaction to George contesting his own arrest, a prosecutor from the Fort Bend County District Attorney’s office countered, asserting that the new charges against George originated from a comprehensive investigation of the judge. The prosecutor informed the media, “The District Attorney’s Office has consistently indicated that the investigation was ongoing, and that investigation has now resulted in two 3rd-degree felony indictments for Money Laundering, which were disclosed to the public today.”
Furthermore, the prosecutor elaborated to the media that the new charges against George were not connected to his prior indictment, stating, “These charges are unrelated to the pending misdemeanor and are assigned to the 458th District Court. Our office remains dedicated to the integrity that the public deserves, and the ethics to which all prosecutors are sworn. Additionally, our investigation continues to be ongoing.”
In a separate response to George’s arrest, the Fort Bend County Democratic Party Chairman, Fred Taylor, called for George to resign. “It’s time for him to do the right thing and just step down,” Taylor remarked to ABC 13, adding, “This county judge has demonstrated his tendency to always portray himself as the victim, which is what led to his troubles initially, and now, he is attempting to play the victim by assigning blame.”
As reported by the media, Fort Bend County Commissioner Dexter L. McCoy has also weighed in on the arrest of George, voicing apprehensions regarding the judge’s unethical conduct. Commissioner McCoy stated, “Occupying roles of public trust requires us to adhere to a higher standard, and the grand jury indictment issued today signifies a blatant violation of that standard. My office is dedicated to serving the residents of Fort Bend County as we face the challenging journey ahead.”
