Carol Vorderman disclosed that she does not permit doctors to reveal her weight during medical examinations. She also provided details about her diet, confessing that she does not prepare meals at home and relishes her favorite dishes such as pasta, fish, and chips without concern for their calorie content.
In addition to a significant intake of healthy vegetables, the 62-year-old occasionally treats herself to low-calorie snacks.
On the Table Manners podcast, Carol revealed the items in her refrigerator to hosts Jessie and Lennie Ware. She remarked: “A variety of vegetables, a small amount of coleslaw, fish, turmeric shots, which I adore, fruit, Greek yogurt, cottage cheese. Whenever I visit others’ homes, I am always surprised by what they have in their fridges. However, I do not cook at home anymore, you see.”
She went on to say: “When I dine out, I indulge in what I desire. I do not feel deprived at all. Therefore, when I go out, I will enjoy what I like. I have a fondness for good pasta. I dislike mushy pasta. I enjoy butter. I love fish and chips, proper fish and chips; I am not fond of French fries – I prefer traditional, large chips.”
Carol Vorderman admitted to following a 28-day detox diet in 1999 to lose some weight but has avoided weighing herself since then.
“Reflecting on my thirties, my husband Paddy, whom I cherished, and I both enjoyed pasta and similar foods, but I was working extremely hard and reached a point where I was eating merely to survive and stay alert. Consequently, I gained a little weight, which I did not appreciate. Thus, I embarked on this detox diet. It was criticized by nutritionists at the time because it was a 28-day detox diet. No meat, no wheat, no dairy, no sugar, for 28 days,” Carol explained.
She further stated: “Then it was all ‘no, you cannot do that’. Now it is considered standard. This was intended for 28 days to allow all your organs to naturally detoxify. I consumed an abundance of vegetables, avoiding potatoes. I do not purchase regular potatoes due to the detox – it altered everything I bought.
“Since completing the detox diet, I have not weighed myself since 1999 – I am unaware of my current weight. I refuse to allow anyone to inform me of my weight – you know how it is during medical check-ups. Generally, when I am at home, I maintain a healthy diet. However, if someone gifts me chocolates or similar treats, I find myself consuming them before I turn to vegetables, so I cannot keep them in the house. I am very content – that is all I have experienced for the past 20 years.”
