She recognizes that her previous self still lives inside her

From Athletic Fame to Global Recognition

Caitlyn Jenner rose to stardom in the 1970s as a world-class athlete. She won Olympic gold in the 1976 decathlon and set a new world record. After retiring from sports, she found success in television and advertising. But her boldest move came years later—coming out as transgender and beginning her gender transition.

Today, she stands as a fearless role model. Still, Caitlyn admits that “Bruce,” her former identity, remains a part of her.

Early Years and Sports Glory

Born William Bruce Jenner in 1949 in New York, Caitlyn battled dyslexia but thrived in sports. In high school, she earned MVP titles in basketball, football, and track. A football scholarship brought her to Graceland College, but a knee injury redirected her path to track and field.

Her coach urged her to train for the Olympic decathlon—a grueling test of athleticism. Caitlyn quickly proved her potential.

Olympic Gold and National Hero Status

Jenner made the 1972 U.S. Olympic team, placing 10th. Determined to improve, she trained eight hours a day for four years. In 1976, she returned to the Olympics and captured gold in Montreal with a world-record score.

At a time of national unrest, Jenner became a symbol of American strength. Yet behind the celebration, Caitlyn felt disconnected from herself.

“I see a confused person at that time… scared to death,” she later said.

Fame, Marriage, and Hidden Struggles

Following the Olympics, Jenner became a household name, starring in ads and TV. But the public didn’t know the pain she carried.

“I walked off the stage and felt like a liar,” she once recalled.

Caitlyn married Chrystie Scott in 1971 and had two children. She later married Linda Thompson and had two more sons. Both marriages ended, in part due to her internal battle with gender identity. In the late 1980s, she began hormone therapy and cosmetic procedures but paused her transition before age 40.

Reality TV and the Path to Transition

In 1991, Caitlyn married Kris Jenner. They had daughters Kendall and Kylie and became reality TV icons on Keeping Up With the Kardashians. Despite the fame, Caitlyn still struggled with living as Bruce.

After separating from Kris in 2013, Caitlyn resumed her transition privately. In 2015, she came out publicly, receiving strong support from her family.

“Bruce Still Lives Inside Me”

Though she lives openly as Caitlyn today, she acknowledges Bruce is still a part of her.

She continues to enjoy racing and flying—passions she shared with her past self. Caitlyn accepts being called “dad” by her kids, stating:

“I’ve been the dad the whole way. I will be their father until the day I d*e.”

A Role Model with Her Own Path

Caitlyn Jenner remains one of the most recognizable transgender women in the world. She continues to inspire others by embracing both her past and present.

With a net worth of $100 million and a legacy that spans sports, activism, and entertainment, Caitlyn has shown that living authentically takes courage—and that sometimes, being true to yourself means carrying all parts of your story with pride.
