Mexico Caves to President Trump in Another Big Win for America

In a recent post on Truth Social, President Donald Trump declared a significant achievement in the ongoing trade discussions with Mexico’s president, Claudia Sheinbaum. Following a “very successful” call, Trump obtained substantial concessions, which include a 25% tariff on automobiles and a 50% tariff on aluminum, steel, and copper.

To provide context, Mexico has consented to eliminate non-tariff barriers on US imports. This agreement, which is intended to last for 90 days, represents a crucial advancement towards a permanent resolution that tackles persistent issues such as drug and human trafficking. In concluding this important announcement, Trump expressed gratitude to the diplomats and officials who contributed to the formulation of the deal and assured that both nations would collaborate on securing the southern border.

This was evident when the president took to Truth Social on July 31, 2025, to reveal the significant change. He commenced by detailing how he managed to establish a rapport with the Mexican President, stating, “I have just concluded a telephone conversation with the President of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum, which was very successful in that, more and more, we are getting to know and understand each other.” Despite their differences, Trump succeeded in forging a connection and signing an America-First trade agreement.

Subsequently, the President transitioned into an in-depth analysis of the elements that render a deal with Mexico more intricate than other trade agreements. He also delved into the specifics of the tariffs imposed on Mexican products with meticulous detail. Trump asserted, “The complexities of a Deal with Mexico are somewhat different than other Nations because of both the problems, and assets, of the Border. We have agreed to extend, for a 90 Day period, the exact same Deal as we had for the last short period of time, namely, that Mexico will continue to pay a 25% Fentanyl Tariff, 25% Tariff on Cars, and 50% Tariff on Steel, Aluminum, and Copper.”

Subsequently, Trump detailed the concessions he successfully negotiated with the Mexican government, demonstrating his skills as a leader and negotiator. The president remarked, “Furthermore, Mexico has consented to promptly abolish its Non Tariff Trade Barriers, of which there were numerous. We will engage in discussions with Mexico over the next 90 days, aiming to finalize a Trade Deal within this 90-day timeframe, or potentially longer.”

As he concluded his statements, the president enumerated the government officials who played a role in finalizing this significant trade agreement. Trump noted, “In attendance at the meeting were Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of Treasury Scott Bessent, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick, United States Trade Representative and Ambassador Jamieson Greer, Chief of Staff Susie Wiles, and Deputy Chief of Staff for Policy, as well as United States Homeland Security Advisor, Stephen Miller.”

In closing his message, President Trump vowed to enhance collaboration between the two governments to ensure the security of the US-Mexico border. Trump stated, “There will be ongoing cooperation regarding the Border in relation to all facets of Security, including Drugs, Drug Distribution, and Illegal Immigration into the United States. Thank you for your attention to this issue!”
