PORTLAND Ore. (KPTV) – Multiple people were injured in a seven-car crash on I-5 Tuesday afternoon, Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue (TVFR) said.

Around 4 p.m., TVFR was called to the Interstate 5 northbound Nyberg Street off-ramp with initial reports that one car was on its top and the driver was trapped. When Tualatin police got to the scene, they reported to firefighters that multiple cars were involved and a second person was trapped in a car on its side.

TVFR helped get the two people trapped in separate cars out by stabilizing the cars with a system of struts and shoring devices. Both people were in critical condition and were taken to hospitals.

The people in four other cars had minor injuries but did not need to be taken to the hospital.

The Oregon State Police will be investigating the cause of the crash.
