Man Issues Warning Following Startling Light Bulb Discovery

A Hidden Fire Hazard Discovered

Fear of House Fires

I’ve always feared house fires. Although I’ve never experienced one, my paranoia makes me triple-check the stove, candles, and dryer vent. However, one potential fire hazard caught my attention through a man’s Facebook post.

Jason Whitaker’s Warning

Kentucky resident Jason Whitaker shared a startling discovery on Facebook. He kept smelling an electrical fire and almost tore his house apart searching for the source. Finally, he found the smell coming from a fluorescent spiral light bulb.

The Shocking Cause

Inside the bulb’s spiral coils were ladybugs. These insects are attracted to light and heat, which led them inside the bulb. Jason’s photos showed the ladybugs nearly igniting due to the bulb’s heat.

Important Safety Tip

I felt it was crucial to share Jason’s post. This potential fire hazard could have been unknown to many. If you have these light bulbs in your fixtures or lamps, check them regularly for insects. You might prevent a house fire.
