The World’s ‘Dirtiest’ Man Did Not Shower For Over 60 Years – His Reason Is Shocking

Amou Haji, a man from the Iranian town of Dez Gah, chose to live an unusual life. He did not shower for over 60 years and had unique habits like eating roadkill and smoking animal dung. “Amou Haji,” which means “old man,” was born in 1928 and lived alone in a house made of cinder blocks. His hygiene routine was minimal; he burned his hair when it got too long.

Despite his unconventional hygiene, Haji maintained a unique diet. He preferred roadkill over fresh food and drank up to 5 liters of water daily from a dirty tin can. Haji enjoyed smoking cigarettes, sometimes several at once, and animal dung in a pipe.
Remarkably, Haji lived to be 94 years old. Dr. Gholamreza Molavi from Tehran University examined him and found him healthy despite his lifestyle. Although he contracted trichinosis, a parasitic disease from eating dead animals, it had little impact on his overall health.

Haji’s unusual life ended shortly after locals persuaded him to take a bath. His longevity and health, despite his unconventional habits, left many people astonished. “He lived to be 94 years old and seemed pretty healthy throughout his life.”
