Madeline’s husband, Robert, started acting strangely, staying late at work and being distant. One night, Madeline saw Robert leaving the house without his wedding ring. He claimed to have lost it and ordered a new one. However, Madeline later discovered Robert had sold the ring.

Madeline was suspicious and worried when Robert repeatedly left late for work. One morning, her friend Charlotte mentioned visiting a pawnshop, where she saw Robert’s wedding ring. Madeline asked Charlotte to buy it back, believing it was stolen. Charlotte investigated and found out Robert had sold the ring himself. Confronted by Madeline, Robert confessed he had been seeing someone else and sold the ring to help the woman’s sick child. Robert’s boss confirmed Robert hadn’t been called into work and revealed Robert’s infidelity.

Madeline confronted Robert about the ring and his affair. Robert admitted he was helping a woman, Holly, whose child was very sick. He promised to end the relationship to save his marriage. They drove to Holly’s house, where Robert told Holly he couldn’t see her anymore, intending to reconcile with Madeline.
