Soldiers Deployed For 11 Months Sing “Take Me Home, Country Roads” On Flight Home

Right after a plane landed filled with soldiers who hadn’t been home for almost a year, they broke out into song. Because they landed in West Virginia, their song choice was pretty easy.

“Country roads, take me home to the place I belong. West Virginia, mountain mama, take me home, country roads,” they sang, performing the John Denver song “Take Me Home, Country Roads.”

Chandler McDaniel of the U.S. Army originally posted the video of him and his fellow soldiers singing “Take Me Home, Country Roads” when they “landed back in West Virginia,” he noted on the social media app TikTok.

As of press time, it’s racked up 125,000 likes, over 555,000 views and has been reposted on various social media accounts including Barstool Sports. He’s been contacted by the TODAY Show, Fox, USA TODAY, and many local news stations to be interviewed about the video and the moment the soldiers broke out into song.

He has yet to do an interview, but the video is as powerful as ever!
