World’s Most Jealous Woman: Partner Faces Lie Detector Test Every Time He Comes Home

Meeting and Falling in Love
Debbi and Steve Wood met in 2011 through a mutual friend on Facebook. Debbi traveled from Scotland to London for their first date. “I knew we were meant to be a couple the moment we planted our first kiss beneath London Bridge,” she recalled. Despite her intense jealousy, their relationship grew serious, and they planned to move in together and eventually marry.

Othello Syndrome
Debbi’s jealousy stems from Othello Syndrome, a mental illness causing unfounded beliefs of infidelity. This led her to extreme measures, including lie detector tests whenever Steve came home. “I get so worried that he’s been eyeing up the shop assistant that I just have to know the truth,” she admitted. Her jealousy also restricted Steve’s activities, such as watching TV or browsing the internet, fearing he might look at other women.

Coping Mechanisms and Public Scrutiny
Debbi’s jealousy and control issues have been publicly documented. In 2019, “Only Human” featured her making Steve take a polygraph-style test after a short trip. Debbi claimed, “I’m impressed you’re telling the truth,” when Steve denied seeing any women in the store. However, Steve’s denial of finding Mel B attractive was flagged as a lie, causing repeated tests and accusations.

Impact on Mental Health and Relationship
Debbi also struggles with bipolar disorder and body dysmorphic disorder. These conditions exacerbate her jealousy, leading to strict regulations for Steve. “Playing the Xbox so much has helped me get some control over my jealousy,” she revealed. Despite the challenges, Steve remains supportive: “I love her so much, and a little envy now and then won’t change that.”
