Valerie Watts had been eagerly anticipating the arrival of her baby, but her joy turned to heartbreak when she gave birth to a stillborn boy. Despite a smooth pregnancy, baby Noah’s umbilical cord got pinched in the womb, ending his life before it began. Struggling with grief, Watts couldn’t part with the crib she had bought for him, keeping it as a painful reminder.

At a garage sale, Gerald Kumpula noticed the crib and wanted to buy it, even though it wasn’t for sale. “When he asked me if I was selling that, that he made benches, I hesitated,” Watts admitted. Kumpula didn’t know the crib’s story at the time. His wife asked about Watts’ baby, and she revealed that he had passed away in July.

Realizing the crib’s significance, Kumpula returned it after transforming it into a bench. “I started crying instantly,” Watts said. The bench now serves as a bittersweet reminder of their loss, offering some comfort to the grieving parents.
