The image of Jesus is one of the most recognized in Western culture, often depicted as a fair-skinned man with long hair and a beard. This portrayal has been so ingrained that people claim to see his face in everyday objects like pancakes or even chicken tikka masala. However, forensic experts suggest these popular depictions may be far from accurate.
A Dutch photographer used artificial intelligence to create a more historically accurate image of Jesus, drawing from various cultural depictions and adjusting features to match what a Middle Eastern man of his time might have looked like. Similarly, British forensic experts, using skulls from the same era and region, recreated a 3D portrait suggesting Jesus likely had a wide face, dark eyes, short curly hair, a bushy beard, and tanned skin.
These findings challenge the traditional image of Jesus, offering a different perspective on his appearance that aligns more closely with historical and cultural data from his time. While this new depiction may surprise some, it provides a fresh and scientifically informed understanding of what Jesus might have looked like.
