Her dog gets in the way of her on her wedding day, and then she learns a sad truth.

The bride’s dog got in the way at the wedding. Every guest FROZE for a minute when they saw what they saw…

Max had been her steady friend for more than ten years. She first thought he was just scared, but what she found out next would change the way she thought about love forever.

Only to serve as an example.
Max leaned against Emily’s legs, making her dress flap around her. Emily stopped in her tracks. He did not growl or bark; instead, he looked at her so intensely that it made her skin itch.

She whispered, “Max, come on, buddy,” to get him to move. He wouldn’t move, though. Her dad bent down to grab the leash.

He told her, “Emily, we need to take another walk.” Max let out a soft growl, which made her dad stop and think. Emily’s heart grew weak.

Max never barked. At any time.

Her dress spread out around her as she knelt down and put her hands around his old face. “Boy, what’s wrong?” She whispered and stroked his graying nose.

He was having a hard time breathing, and his hands were shaking. She held her breath. There was something very wrong. Emily quickly called out to her mom because time was running out.

Someone asked Emily, “What’s going on?” but she couldn’t hear anything else. Just Max. The person who had been there for her through all of her happy and sad times. She knelt down and put her face against his.

She said in a whisper, “I’m here, Max.”
“I’m not going to leave you.”
“Always.”

As she helped him lie down, he leaned against her, tired and heavy.

People around her heard confused whispers, but all she could hear was Max’s weak breaths. His amber eyes begged her, as if he were trying to say something that words could never say.

She whispered, “Max,” again, and her voice was shaking.

Only to serve as an example.
All of the guests STUNNED for one minute at what they saw… 😲😲😲
When Emily looked up, something happened that no one could have seen coming.

Max slowly stood up, and you could tell he was working hard. He went by Emily and stopped right in front of the altar. Even though he was still looking at her, he felt better. It looked like he had just the right amount of strength for a reason. That was enough.

He sat down. In the middle of the path that leads to the person who is waiting at the altar.

He let out one bark. Very loud. Clear and not hostile. It was a message. An alert.

Emily slowly walked up to him.

— “Max, what is it?” “Shh,” she whispered.

When he raised his head, he didn’t look at her.

His eyes were fixed on the groom, on Ryan.

Everyone in the crowd turned to look at him.

Ryan stood still with his hands clenched and his skin as white as chalk.

— “Ryan?” Emily said in a clear but soft voice.

Not an answer.

Max let out a low growl. It wasn’t a danger signal this time. It was a moral lesson. Like he was telling her, “Be honest.”

Ryan moved back.

His voice was shaking as he said, “I…” “I have something to tell you.”

There were murmurs among the guests.

“Emily, I haven’t been honest with you. You…you deserve to know the truth. “I… all this time”

He didn’t say everything. A woman came out from behind one of the columns.

wearing a brown dress and having dark hair. Taking a bunch. She was about the same age as Emily. Oh, and pregnant.

There was silence. A glass broke. Someone else let out a gasp.

The woman said, “I didn’t want to ruin this.” “But Max saw me,” I said. He had a feeling. Dogs can feel everything.

Emily felt no pain.

She asked, “Who is she?” Her lips were dry.

Ryan said in a whisper, “Rachel.” “She was… before you.” However… I wasn’t sure how to tell you.

“Before me?” Emily clenched her hands together. “Then why is she pregnant now?”

He didn’t say anything.

Emily’s world fell apart. An older voice came from the back of the crowd before she could speak.

“They were still seeing each other.” “I saw them for myself,” Emily’s aunt said. “Last month, at the café.” I meant to tell you, but… It was your big day.

Emily went cold.

Max went over to her and put his head on her hand.

She got on her knees again and stroked his face.

“You knew.” “You were trying to keep me safe,” she said in a low voice. “My honest and good friend…”

She had tears running down her face, but they weren’t because she was hurt. They were tears of relief.

She got up. Faced the guests.

“Dear friends… It looks like there will be a wedding after all. But not the one you thought it would be.

Everyone stopped talking.

“I’m marrying my freedom today.” What a shame. “And the person who has always been with me.”

Only to serve as an example.
Emily got down on her knees next to Max and kissed him on the face.

“Thank you.”

There was a lot of cheering in the room.

After a month, Emily moved to a quiet, small house on the edge of town. Things were better for Max. The doctor said that the stress had caused him to have an anxiety attack, but that with love and care, he still had many happy years ahead of him.

Emily grew flowers, picked up drawing again, and started to remember who she was. Every day, she remembered parts of her soul that she had lost.

She wrote this on social media one night while sitting on the porch with a cup of tea:

“Stop if a dog gets in your way.

They might not be stopping you.

They might be trying to save you.

And a picture below the caption:
This is Emily in her white dress. Max was next to her. Looking at her. True.
I love.
