“Go Woke, Go Broke”: MLB Stadium Stands Empty During Woke Event, America Sends Clear Message

The Los Angeles Dodgers experienced a significant lesson last year when their choice to recognize the anti-Catholic drag group “Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence” at a pride night event faced considerable backlash and resulted in a notably vacant stadium. This contentious decision not only estranged fans but also incited a large protest by Christians outside the stadium, underscoring the increasing belief that “woke” politics should not be part of America’s pastime.

Christian recording artist Sean Feucht posted alarming footage of the sparsely populated game on X (formerly Twitter), stating: “BREAKING: I have never seen @Dodgers stadium so vacant while they pay tribute to the demonic! 😅💪🏽 Meanwhile, thousands of believers are protesting outside! The message from America has been unmistakably conveyed once more: YOU GO WOKE, YOU GO BROKE!”

The disappointing turnout, even during what was expected to be a highly anticipated rivalry match, served as clear evidence of fan discontent. Feucht subsequently shared an update from the sixth inning, remarking, “More attendees but still quite dismal for one of the most significant rivalries in sports. 😅 #GoWokeGoBroke.”

The Dodgers’ choice to honor the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, a group infamous for ridiculing Catholicism and Christianity, incited outrage among the faithful. Washington Nationals pitcher Jake Treinen, a committed Catholic, openly criticized the Dodgers and called for a boycott.

Regarding his decision, Treinen stated, “This is something I firmly believe in. My faith being mocked in the context of Major League Baseball compelled me to defend my truth.” Treinen also reflected on his beliefs, stressing that his actions were aimed at serving a higher purpose rather than concentrating solely on his career:

“When I pass away, hopefully in a state of grace, and Saint Peter welcomes me at the gates, he won’t inquire about your win-loss record in 2023. He will simply ask how you contributed to building the kingdom of heaven.”

While the stadium remained empty, the parking lot outside was bustling with Catholic and Christian protesters who were peacefully praying and expressing their dissent. Videos and images from the protest showcased a large, united crowd standing against the Dodgers’ decision to honor a group that many perceive as overtly anti-Christian.

Catholic journalist Sachin Jose reported on X: “The Los Angeles Dodgers recognized the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, a drag group perceived as anti-Catholic, during their ‘pride night’ event in front of a nearly vacant audience. Meanwhile, hundreds of Christians, including both Catholics and members of other denominations, gathered outside the stadium to peacefully protest the team’s decision through prayer. The Dodgers have been ‘Bud-lighted!’

The Dodgers’ predicament reflects the consequences experienced by other companies that have adopted polarizing ‘woke’ initiatives, similar to Bud Light’s unsuccessful collaboration with a transgender influencer. Fans are clearly communicating that there is no desire for political agendas and ideologies in environments intended for entertainment and togetherness.

In their attempt to satisfy a vocal minority, the Dodgers have estranged a significant segment of their fan base, damaging their reputation in the process. Baseball, like all sports, is meant to unite people—not create divisions.

As the backlash reverberates throughout the sports community, the Dodgers and similar organizations ought to heed this warning: embracing ‘woke’ ideologies may lead to financial decline.
