To safely consume eggshells, they must first be properly cleaned and prepared. Boiling the shells for about five minutes helps disinfect them. After boiling, it’s important to dry the shells thoroughly, either by air-drying in the sun or using an oven. Once they are completely dry, the shells can be ground into a fine powder.

This powder can be added to beverages like juices and smoothies or even soups to boost your daily calcium intake. Research indicates that calcium from eggshells is absorbed by the body nearly as efficiently as that from commercial supplements.

In addition to calcium, eggshells also provide small amounts of magnesium, phosphorus, and zinc—all of which are essential for maintaining overall health and supporting bodily functions.
