Actress Norma Shearer discovered Janet’s photo at a ski resort and saw star potential. She showed it to a talent agent, launching Janet’s acting career.

At 18, Janet signed with MGM and starred in her first movie, “The Romance of Rosy Ridge” (1947). She quickly became popular, known for her beauty, talent, and kind personality, starring in films like “Little Women” and “Act of Violence.”

Personal Life and Iconic Role

Janet’s first marriage was brief. She later married Tony Curtis, and they had two daughters, including actress Jamie Lee Curtis. Janet’s most iconic role was in “Psycho” (1960). Her performance as Marion Crane, especially the famous shower scene, earned her a Golden Globe and an Oscar nomination.
